|The simplified 1955 map shows the ACL (red lines) Haines City Branch to southeast Florida that was completed around 1925. The route extended to Lake Wales, Frostproof, Avon Park, and Lake Placid, then farther south to Immokalee. In 1925, this line had reached all the way to Everglades City, but by 1955 was cut back to Immokalee after depletion of southern forests reduced business.
Another ACL line built in 1885 from Lake Alfred via Winter Haven to Bartow is also shown on this map.
Today, a segment of the old Haines City Branch extends just a few miles below Haines City, and another segment extends from Lake Wales to Frostproof. The old Lake Alfred line now extends only from Winter Haven to short of Bartow.
